How to play PokeVS

Create a room, invite friends with a code, pick modes and play live: a complete walkthrough of a PokeVS match, bots, Marathons and scoring.

Create or join a room

PokeVS runs entirely in the browser, on phones and computers alike. There is nothing to install and no account to create: type a trainer name on the home page and press Create room. You get a six-character room code (for example K7Q2XM) and a link you can paste in WhatsApp, Discord or any chat.

Friends join by opening that link or by typing the code in the Join room box. Anyone who arrives while a match is already running waits as a spectator and joins automatically as soon as the room goes back to the lobby, so nobody interrupts a round in progress.

The host, bots and the lobby

Whoever creates the room is the host. The host picks the game modes, starts the match and can hand the role to another player at any time from the player menu. If the host leaves, the role passes automatically to another connected player.

Playing alone or short on friends? The host can add up to eight computer players. Each bot has a difficulty (Easy, Medium, Hard or Extreme) and adapts slightly to how well the humans in the room are doing, so a close game stays close.

Marathons

Selecting two or more modes chains them into a Marathon of up to 12 legs, and the same mode can be repeated up to five times in a row. Scores carry over from leg to leg, and a Marathon of three or more modes ends on a Champion screen with each player's points broken down by mode.

Points and the running total

Every mode is scored so that a full match of it is worth up to about 800 points to one player. Answering faster, earlier or better ranked always pays more, and a wrong answer never costs points you already have.

When a match ends, everyone's points are added to the room's running total, shown in the lobby. It keeps growing across matches until the host resets it, which makes it easy to play a whole evening and see who came out on top.

If your connection drops

Refreshing the page or losing signal for a few seconds does not kick you out. You have 20 seconds to come back and you keep your score, your host role and your locked answers. In Survival, your turn is skipped while you are away, so the rest of the room never has to wait for you.
